Re: “Suzette

Every bit as delicious and fun as the Merc review says. I especially love the house-made ice creams in unusual, gentle flavors. It is unusual to get this kind of subtlety of flavors in a neighborhood joint kind of place.

Also, we were able to get a fully gluten/corn/soy - free meal (salad, soup without the toast, and ice creams). Chef was very helpful with it.

Re: “Do One Thing and Do It Well

The original cocktails knock it out of the park, too. Only a matter of time before this place has a line out the door.

Re: “Death to Phone Books Part II

All of these companies pretend to have an "opt out" program. I've tried them. Call and you'll get told you are going to be connected to that operator, then.... dial tone! That's fraud, pure and simple.

Make them pay a recycling fee in advance for every copy they distribute. Otherwise, fine the bejesus out of them.

Re: “Is Soccer Deal Headed To Sudden Death?

An advocate of the theft of Lent's park for this private enterprise claims a survey of nearby residents supports putting a new baseball stadium there, along with the 5,000 parking spaces. Does the Merc have that survey? What did they really ask, who did they ask, etc? These things are proven to create economic and social vacuums around them, except for the actual times of the events. I can't believe people who actually live around there want that. It makes no sense.

Re: “Sit-Lie Ordinance Reduces Room To Tears

Sit/Lie punishes the victim. We have no safety nets that are worth a damn. Not everybody can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Most people in that situation have spent most of their lives in the regular stream of working life and have just hit a rough patch. Using degrading language on or about them is just a sign of the massive ignorance of the speaker, who is only making the situation worse.
