Yes: it's totally super feminist to only review female authors that come pre-approved by Kevin Sampsell at Powell's, and to only cover literary events that happen at Powell's. That bookstore also happens to be the place where I regularly purchase books that have been sold by the Mercury to Powell's. You are ridiculous, and should be ashamed.

Re: “On "Behind the Legend of JT Leroy"”
Here's what I don't get: there are, quite literally, thousands upon thousands of writers producing compelling, fascinating, intimate prose. Why would a single second be wasted on supporting the career of a star-chasing hack? I'm about as interested in this as I am in James Frey's young adult fiction factory. I appreciate the work that Kevin Sampsell does, but I like it better when he promotes unknown authors as opposed to people fellated by hipster celebrities who rarely read anything more compelling than an ingredients list. Someone needs to pass the note that a tragic story does not equal good writing.
