Re: “Free Store (For Profit) Pops Up in SE Portland

yeah, the messenger thing will definitely be an epic fail. i can't wait to see who's up for biking around for practically nothing in the middle of the cold, wet, winter.

also: does anyone really need more junk mail / billboards shoved in their face everyday??? come on.

"oh hey, thanks for picking up that old copy of Heathers on VHS and biking it to St. Johns for me. here, let me tip you 5 bucks!"
...not gonna happen.
hell, even if you DID get tipped 5 bucks for biking that far. not worth it.
opportunity cost man. messengers won't stick around when they can't pay their bills.
and when the free store can't pay it's bills, it will disappear. soon we'll be back to people giving stuff away for free with NO strings attached.

Re: “Win Tickets to Mos Def!!!

i hung around outside the Twiztid show at the Roseland Theater this past week (juggalo watching of course). I have plenty of photos to prove it. It's best to capture them in their natural environment.

So I'm offering up a trade. My juggalo photos for the Mos Def tickets. AND if you ask nicely, I probably can get my friend to send his as well. He even got his picture taken with a bunch of juggalettes. However, the picture abruptly turned PG-13 when one of the juggalettes pulled out her triple D jugs.

dubie -

give me a break!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America…

just look up "northeast ice storm" or anything of the sort in google, and you'll see that the east coast is plagued with ice storms on a regular basis.
the one in 1998 is one in particular that is nearly impossible to top.

west coast winters = cake walk.
be thankful.

Re: “ARCTIC BLAST! WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!

every winter here it's non-stop hilarity.
having grown up in upstate NY (right between lake ontario and the adirondacks) and even spending some post-college years in MI, i can't believe how people react to snow here.
it's almost as bad as FL.

i can't tell you how many people i've seen drop 600 dollars on snow tires (in addition to waiting in line for HOURS at les schwab amidst all the other frantic drivers) before they even consider DRIVING SLOWER and attempting to be more cautious. god forbid they find an alternative mode of transportation that day.
nope, first thought: "i need to wrap my car in fuckin chains! sure i never go to mount hood or anything, but we're talking an INCH of snow!!! i better keep these puppies on for the next 6 months!"
seriously though, most of have witnessed at least a couple of cars that just hangout downtown/inner SE and ride on studded snow tires all year long.

"hey the roads are covered in ice and everyone is crashing.... i bet it's still a good idea to drive up SW vista and SW park. i'm SURE i won't crash like the other 2 dozen cars on the side of the road!!"

seriously though, people here FREAK.
public schools close down with a mere rumor of ice or snow.
some days i just stand out on the side walk and wait for the entertainment.
you might not think of SE 20th and Belmont as a hot spot for wintery skids/crashes/fishtails/non-sense, but it's a good one.

Re: “Los Gorditos II

thelastfewdays -

obviously you're confusing this with the original los gorditos on 50th and division. which has separate menus.

los gorditos 2 (SE 8th and ankeny) only has one menu. it's ALL VEGAN and has way more choices than their other location.
the cruzes are awesome! and their food is delicious!
and los gorditos is one of the few places left where you can stuff yourself on amazing food for less than 8 bucks.
