That sounds like bullshit to me, D. The police 'risk' their lives for a dead ideal, one that was non-existent at best. The police's only job is to protect the rich and the borgeious's property, and therefore in this context, the police HAD to kill Chasse to protect Petit-Borgieouse notions of society.
