Re: “

The Carlyle is basically a well kept secret. But more people should know about it. Secluded under the Fremont bridge somewhere between the Pearl and NW 23rd districts, this is a restaurant that is a great hidden treasure. The place was originally going to be a bakery so the kitchen is massive but the dining space intimate and elegant and the maitre' d a genuine gentleman. The bar makes you feel like you are in New York City and the drinks are outstanding and come with great service and knowledge from the affable bartender. There is a koi Japanese style garden in back for a special dinner for four and also a long Italian style banquet table for 12 right in the middle of the kitchen (a la Charlie Trotter) for a raucous group of friends. I almost hate to let this secret out but feel more people need to know about the Carlyle.
