<![CDATA[I walked by this place a few times and thought it looked tasty. my wife and I tried it one day and were both very disappointed with both the food and the service. We were one of 2 tables seated in the restaurant and the service took forever. my wife got a salad and was given the wrong dressing and our sever did not come to check on us for 15 minutes. My water glass was empty the entire meal and food was not that impressive. The thing that upset us the most was our sever was THE OWNER. He sat reading a newspaper rather than refilling our water or checking if we needed things like ketchup for our fries, or even to see if our food was ok. This is the worst service I've had since moving to Portland. If you own a restaurant your patrons should be your # 1 priority, not reading your paper.

<![CDATA[We are regulars at Down To Earth. The place is small, and I don't think they have a lot of help, but the food is delicious and well-prepared. Everything is made fresh to order (not like most other restaurants in the area where the salads have been laying around for days in a bowl). They have a lot of organic options. I love their omelettes. Good coffee, too (Stumptown)!

<![CDATA[The food is fresh and flavorful, the soup- oh the wonderful soup! Completely homemade with no artificial mixes so common of many other resturants out there today, two selections daily. The menu is marvelously varied: The breakfasts unique and refreshing (egg whites on request), as are the smoothies, fresh organic juices, salads, and sandwiches- a particular favorite is the Everything Burger, which they will customize upon request- I love to add avacado and goat cheese, delicious! Somewhere in between breakfast and lunch? I highly recommend this as the brunch burger to beat all. I can not possibly say enough about the friendly and gracious staff. The owners, cooks, and wait staff are all lovely people. The owners are particularly concerned about their customers needs and wish to know how to make their dining experience better- have a comment or question? Don't be afraid to ask, they are perfect hosts! DTE is open for speciality Persian cusine dinners Weds, Thurs and Fri nights, with live music on Thurs and Fri (we've sampled the special Persian meatballs with basmati rice, you simply cannot pass this dish up!)
Well worth the time to travel to Multnomah, with comprable village prices. No time to sit down for lunch? All fare is available to go, including the beautiful soup! Give DTE a try :)

<![CDATA[Down to Earth Cafe is delicious, fresh and friendly. We used go to Marco's, next door, because there was such a line it must be good. And they are good, but not as good as D.ToE.C. We don't go to Marco's anymore. Nothing against Marco's, just a fresher feel of the people who work/own DTEC, not so much the Macy's/Nordstrom crowd you find at Marco's who are eating the great food at DTEC, fresher food for sure, better prices, good coffee.

I usually have the smoked-salmon scramble, or do a build-your-own with goat cheese. A few weeks ago I ordered the tofu scramble, wanting something a little bland. and was it ever delicious. I was surprised at how flavorful it was they made that dish. I have had it again, just as good.

They have an intriguing dinner menu, but have not yet taken that meal there, as we usually eat breakfast out. When we do, I will post a dinner review, then.

Down to Earth Cafe I highly recommend.

<![CDATA[Angie is nuts. Go to Marcos. Pay twice as much for food that is not nearly as good as Down to Earth's! DTE has a friendlier staff, faster turn around for food delivery and way better prices for their portions! It's ok if you don't return - just leaves more food for us!

<![CDATA[I have a completely different opinion! I like this place so much I have been back many times, bringing different people. We ALL enjoyed our meals.

My mother, who had a major heart attack last year, had tofu for the very first time and LOVED the tofu scramble. (With turkey bacon.) True, they didn't have no-cholestral eggs, but she liked this dish, and will have it again when she visits.

I've tried a variety of menu items and have been very pleased with flavor, freshness and portion size. I have always been pleased with the service.

I feel bad for Angie, because she is missing out. Marcos is okay, but I don't think it sets the standard for breakfasts in Portland anymore (I consider myself pretty well versed in Portland breakfast fare). I would much rather eat at Down to Earth.

To each his/her own. Try Down to Earth for yourself.

<![CDATA[We decided to try this place when our beloved Marcos Cafe had a very long wait. There's a reason there was no wait here. The act like a healthy place to eat but I've never had a greasier breakfast in my life. I had a tofu scramble that arrived in a pool of oil. It was really gross. My daughter had a breakfast burrito and couldn't stomache more than two bites. It was really expensive for the size of the servings. $7.00 for a kids meal! They gave my four year old eggs instead of tofu. We will NOT be returning
