alright alright, here's the verdict: sushi is simple and nothing out of the ordinary. The presentation is clean and the atmosphere is cozy. that's about it.

strike 1: don't order the crunch roll, what a horrible way to disgrace the entire art of sushi. (now it can be done, making sushi rolls and frying them in tempera batter quickly, but this place doesn't do it that well) stick with the basics and bentos here.

strike 2: ramen sucks balls, save your money and put some hot water in a cup ol' noodle at home. trust me, the taste is pretty much the same. you want some variety, add an egg to your instant noodles.

strike 3: the quality and delivery. the balance isn't quite right. you go to sushi land and you know what to expect. other sushi joints measure up to their expectations. Saburo will give you big sizes, Yuki on NW23rd has some great flavor and Hiroshi's (that $$$ join in the pearl) delivers something worthwhile.

at Mio Sushi, I don't know what to expect.

overall, average at best, stop by if you must have your daily fix of asian food (note I don't say Japanese food because I don't believe it's 100% authentic. Mio Sushi isn't setting the bar that high)
Delicious, melt in your mouth sushi. And as sushi goes (usually I need to plan on spending at least $20 to get everything I want), you get more than your money's worth in terms of quality. Also-- the size and proportion of ingredients in the rolls are JUST RIGHT. I think they could get a little more creative with their rolls-- add a little pizazz-- but other than that I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys sushi.

In the 4 times i've eaten here with my wife, they've all been excellent exp....
but yesterday 4-14-08
as we finished our food and got ready to leave... i reached down to pick up a chop stick and seen a cockroach i had stepped on..... it was still squirming around...

This has made me unsure about returning to this establishment....
