<![CDATA[The magical hole-in-the-wall restaurant where it's always busy and the food is always good. Definitely a good place to go with friends and share a big plate of food!

<![CDATA[When I first moved to pdx, my girlfriend & I would go to Nicholas and share a mezza to stretch our buck. The mezza elements are usually pretty good, tahziki & tabouli especially. I've just recently tried a few other dishes and sadly was disappointed. The foohl mudamas was overflowing with oil. "Stephen's Chicken Platter" was terrible; a huge platter for $10, but way too much rice, what seemed like two frozen breaded chicken patties burnt and chopped topped with bland tomato chunks - skip it. It's always crowded, the tables are tiny, and the service can be down right neglectful at times, but I'll still drop in from time to time for a mezza plate.

<![CDATA[The food is still wonderful, and still damn cheap considering you get enough of it to last you well into the next day's meals - none of this is any secret, and so if you're looking for the best Lebanese food in town at lunch or dinnertime, then yeah, you're going to have to take a spot in line with everyone else.

<![CDATA[It was the morning after an extended pub crawl, and my friends from out of town were in bad shape. As we groaned and blinked at the daylight, I told them that I knew a highly effective hangover cure, and took them to Nicholas for meze and lentil soup. And even though I was just making up the story, damn if it didn’t work. Five minutes after the food arrived, we were all feeling MUCH better. That was a year or two ago, and my friends from out of town still remember Nicholas Restaurant wistfully. Yes, you have to wait outside sometimes, but that’s irrelevant as soon as the plates start arriving at the table. The mjadra in particular is shockingly good. Portland is so very lucky that this Lebanese family decided to settle here.

<![CDATA[I used to like going to Nicholas. The food was wonderful. However, every single time I go by the restaurant during their opening hours it is packed with people. I called in an order to go for a relative, but waited about 45 minutes to an hour for it to be ready. So, unless Nicholas gets a larger location or multiple locations, I will continue to tell people I know not to go there unless you're on a hunger strike.

<![CDATA[I've loved everything I've ever had at Nicholas', but their lentil soup is to die for at only $4 a bowl. All of the Mezza platters are incredible and fresh tasting, and they also have Calzone and a few other Americanized dishes for picky eaters that might be with you. The only down side is it can be extremely crowded in there and a little bit of a wait.
