<![CDATA[Far and away one of my favorite places to chow down in town. I'm veggie, and it's quite exciting to be able to order anything on a menu, and the paradox's menu is to die for. To those of you who have "more variety" in your flesh eating diet, I think your input has little validity on this topic, I have a challenge to all the haters who've tarnished this fine establishments good name. Try the sloppy joe's, do it when your super hungry, you'll feel like a million bucks, it never fails. Ohh and the number two with the sauce, better than sex! Prices are unbeatable. I've always found it to have great service. Corn Dog, Philly, and Yum Yum are also mentionable.

<![CDATA[This place is just fine if you can sort through their menu (if you're not vegan/vegetarian inclined, pick a different restaurant - there are plenty in the neighborhood). But they're fairly short on vegetables for being a vegan-friendly joint, so don't go here unless you're in a starch/salt/oil breakfast mood either. Portions are on the large side and you can get out for under $10 including coffee and tip if you pick your entree right.

I haven't had any bad experiences with their service, and once I saw a waitress run down Belmont after some customers who forgot their leftovers in a to-go box at their table (that's nice!)

The place is a bit small, but doesn't feel like it thanks to tons of wall mirrors. Don't go with a group larger than four; unless your troupe of five includes three emaciated Holocaust victims, you won't fit in their booths. There's usually a line on weekends, but if you can grab it the bench outside is under an awning but also straight in the path of the morning sun, which is nice during winter.

Lastly, if you're a Heroes fan, the last time I was there Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia were sitting at the bar. OMG!

<![CDATA[seriously, i just ate a modest breakfast at the paradox and it immediately came back up!

this is the second time their food has made me sick. i'm never ever ever going back to this shit hole.

making greasy vegan food ain't that hard, ya'll....
do these people even have food handlers cards?
i'll never understand why there is always such a long line outside the vita and the paradox on the weekends. is everyone just dieing to get treated like shit by hipster servers and pay way too much for mushy piles of vegan goop?

from here on out, if i want a good greasy spoon vegan breakfast, i'm gonna go to the store, buy what i need, put coffee on and invite my friends over....at least that way i know that they won't vomit, get stomach aches or have to wait outside for an hour to get some really simple food!
i totally wash my hands!

<![CDATA[When I kept hearing from my girlfriend how wonderful the food was, I was excited. It is sooooo hard to find good vegan food and I wanted to introduce to my then boyfriend (now recently fiance) that vegan cuisine can taste good, well, didn't happen. Also, when I asked the waitress for more water, she acted like I was the biggest asshole ever! I suggest buying a vegan cookbook if you need to satisfy those cravings because this place won't!

<![CDATA[Ah, the Paradox...how I wish it were great. This is the sort of place I would love to love but keep finding myself feeling pretty ambivalent. The food is good, not great and the service is a little worse than that. The prices, also are a little steep (especially considering how most fries, etc. are often a substantial chunk of $ extra) for what ought to be a great, greasy diner with a Portland edge.

I challenge the owners (apparently the same as the Vita?) to push the service up a notch--I'm mostly willing to shell out their prices for good vegan food, but I'm disinclined to do so when the service is bad and the food only so great.

I look like an old, fat suburban white guy (OK, I am one) with no piercings or ink, and the servers have always been as nice as can be. We eat here almost every weekend, so you would think by now we would have noticed whatever the problem is. But hey, stay away, just makes it easier for us to get a table. Yum, yum, yum.

<![CDATA[I expect some sassy, borderline impatient service at a breakfast joint on a Saturday at noon, but the last time I went to Paradox we had THE WORST SERVICE EVER. It took a while for a table, no big deal, to be expected. Then my group, consisting of 5 adults, was seated at a tiny booth and abandoned without an offer to wait for a larger table. Then the coffee machine broke, which is pretty much criminal for a diner. A group of six left shortly after we were seated, and we asked to move so that we would have adequate elbow room to stuff our faces, and were yelled at by our very fashionable waitress. Twice. Our punishment, we found, was to wait about 45 minutes to get our food. My friend had to get a to-go box because, apparently, leaving yourself 2 hours to get breakfast before going to work was insufficient. The food was fine, as always, but when we were dying to get out of there, it took another 30 minutes to pay a bill and get boxes for our delicious leftovers. We're nice people, the mean waitress got a gracious tip, but I will never, ever waste any amount of my weekend on that establishment again. Oh, and it's stuffy like a mouth in there. Get some fans!!

<![CDATA[Go for: french toast, biscuits or herb&onion bread w/gravy, oh and the chop chop salad is pretty good. My friend loves the avacado tostada. I like Paradox; the emloyees are very friendly these days (a few years ago I had an unfriendly experience also). Not too into the sloppy joseph (it doesn't taste like manwich! pshaw). If I have the choice though, I opt for Vita, which is owned by the same people. Paradox's menu isn't quite as awesome, though some items on the menu are the same.

<![CDATA[If anything, go here for the french toast. Best vegan french toast I've had since NYC. Or go for the sassy waitresses. Or both.

<![CDATA[This used to be the place where my boyfriend and I ate greasy delicious vegan food every Sunday morning- no longer. The Paradox simply isn't as tasty as it used to be, and I'm annoyed that they changed the name of my favorite dish from "paradox alarm clock" to "the #5." The final straw was noticing the $8 bagel sandwich that doesn't even come with a salad or fries. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.
