<![CDATA[Actually the Delta is about as unauthenic as Portland can come. I like to laugh at all the uber-Portlanders thinking they are at yet another trendy one-of-a-kind place. While I love the drinks and love to get a gut bomb going...it's a chain restaurant people!!!

If you've never been to the Delta you are missing out on one of Portland's greatest hidden gems. Ecletic, fun, unpretentious, hip, rocken...think voodoo lounge with yummy comfort food. <![CDATA[I haven't eaten there in 3 years because the last time I did, I ordered what I recall being named the "White-Trash Chicken" (maybe the name has changed on the menu by now) which is just fried chicken with a couple of sides. Within a couple hours, I was in intense pain with vomiting and the d-word. This lasted for nearly 48 hours and was diagnosed by my doctor as food poisoning (not that I needed him to tell me that).
I really wish I could eat there, as I live so close and the dining selection on Woodstock -while much improved over the last few years- is nothing to shout about. I just can bring myself to return to a place that made me so violently ill

<![CDATA[I was born and raised in the south, a place with bountiful pig, produce, and, yes, a passion for fried things.

About all I can say that the Delta has going for it is their fondness for grease. These folks just plain cannot cook.

Most insulting is that in the last three times I went, someone at the table ordered the chicken. It came to the table completely cold, raw, and bloody in the middle each time. That's three times in a row! Not only is that sickening, but the best the best reaction the not-very-friendly servers offered up was a shrug of indifference.

Even more insulting than a place that claims to serve "proper southern meals" but can't cook is the bad manners of a staff who doesn't seem to give a damn.

Three times was enough for me. Forget this joint.

<![CDATA[I come from the south. Spent a lot of my life in Birmingham, Al. Went to college in Savannah, Ga. Lived in Atlanta, Ga before moving back to Birmingham. I've worked at some of the better restaurants in the South - East US and with chefs that were born, raised, and spent a lot of their lives in New Orleans. I know southern food.
Delta's is needlessly greasy, without adding the extra flavor that that much fat should. I'm not opposed to fat, I love it, but fat = flavor is not applicable in this case. My oyster Po boy was greasy and the oysters were way overcooked. The fried chicken served to the rest of my table was dark brown, not golden brown and crispy as it should have been. The Red eye gravy on my mashed potatoes wasnot red eye gravy (rendered bacon fat with coffee, best if rounded out with butter) but regular brown gravy.
Drink prices are great. Really great, but I won't be back unless they fix the frying and can ensure that menu descriptions fit what is served. I'd love another good southern food place in town, but this isn;t it right now.

The food is solid and generally has a very authentic home cooked taste. But, it's a little pricier than it should be for what it is. It's kind of like how this marketing genius came up with the idea of making people pay more for water from municipal water sources by placing it in plastic bottles and selling it for roughly 1000 times the cost of your tap.

You can either go home, fry up some shit, through some butter and breading on it, and call yourself a winner, or spend $10 for about 1/5th the food.

Big ups to the generally hot staff and massive soda's. Woot.

<![CDATA[I love the Delta. It's a refreshing place to visit, for a great infused cocktails, good southern cooking, and a funky fun atmosphere. With all the new restaurants out, that just seem so contrived, the Delta is a refreshing, loved hang out, that makes a mean cocktail. They are known for pouring them big and serving big portions too. If your looking for a pretty Pearl restaurant go some place else... go to the Delta for some real Portland vibe.

<![CDATA[We walked in, looked at the menu, and walked right back out. 13 bucks for fried chicken? Southern food is supposed to be cheap. They jack up the prices because people think it's kitchy to eat it. How does it only have one dollar sign as a rating?

<![CDATA[The first time I went to the Delta, I loved it. Great fried chicken, great sides (I especially love the cheesy cauliflower thing). I also love the ambiance and decor, as it's funky but in a way that you could still take your parents here. The second time (this time dragging my boyfriend with me promising him the food is great) it was terrible! We ordered chicken fried pork chops and they were practically inedible because they were so tough. Long story short, the Delta is worth trying--hopefully you'll get them on a good night--but otherwise good luck chewing!

<![CDATA[Ah, the Delta. It always seems so chaotic but somehow they manage to get you your food. I'm a big fan of fried okra when it's done right but Delta serves theirs all chopped up and it's just a greasy mess. They should try using whole okra it's so much better that way. As far as their other food goes, it can be hit and miss. I usually get the side sampler. Sometimes everything is really good sometimes it's more on the bland side. Oh well, If you have a couple of those spicy Bloody Marys, who really cares right?
