<![CDATA[Everything was great. Came on a Wednesday, got in after a short wait. Hostess offered us something to drink while we were waiting. Service was excellent and helpful. Pizza came out very quickly.

As far as the pizza itself, I would rank it above Apizza Scholls based on the Margherita (with a side of chilis). The crust had a perfect char to it, a great nuanced flavor, and the texture was great throughout. Sauce and cheese were good as well. Dessert was good, but not great.

I wish they'd throw a pesto-based pizza on the menu, or maybe steal a few recipes from Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix.

<![CDATA[I was dining with the Earthwoman last night and will add this. First, unlike the usual situation, there was no line. For the first 15 minutes only one other person was dining and there wasn't a wait until after 6 pm. Second, when we asked for the table in the window, the hostess said they "don't like to push two tables together, we want to save the two-tops for couples." Well, the two tables in question have about a 2-inch gap between them, and we would have been happy to sit there without pushing them together. Last, I don't mind sitting at the community table at all, but the whole time we were there, they kept 4 empty seats between us and the twosome at the other end. So those 4 spots were just wasted space--making me think they should jettison the community table concept, and then maybe parties of 4 can sit where they want in an empty restaurant. But yes, the pizza was yummy, so I will continue to put up with this nuttiness.

<![CDATA[Went to Ken's last night, and as always, the pizza was good. However, we were the first group there at 5:00 and were led to a crappy table for 4 by the servers' station, even though the entire restaurant was empty. When we asked to be seated at two tables by the front window that were together, we were told they were saving those tables for two couples. (We were two couples who just happened to be dining together.) We finally settled on one end of a large community table. This practice of saving prime tables for more worthy diners is a poor way to treat customers. Skip Ken's and go to Carboni's on MLK blvd where they are glad to see you, have great pizza, and let you sit at any table you want.

<![CDATA[Yea, the pizza isn't bad, but if you want to wait an hour in a crowded space with a bunch of upscale yuppies, then do your thing. It's the type of crowd I would expect in the Pearl with that pretentious vibe..no thanks

<![CDATA[I find it quite hard to find a decent vegan option at most restaurants. But at Ken's there Pizza (minus the cheese meat) is delicious. Also they have a great selection of wine and perfectly sweet lemonade.
Also last time I attended there they happen to have this fucking awesome roasted potatoes with almond gravy (which was naturally vegan).

I highly recommend, but my only suggestion is to show up at opening time because the waiting can seem to go on forever.

<![CDATA[Do they make their own sausage here? I hope so 'cause that would be the only saving grace to this place, otherwise it really doesn't live up to it's legend. I've suffered through a couple of trips to this rather busy restaurant (waiting...waiting...waiting), and haven't come away with special feelings except "been there, done that".

<![CDATA[My favorite pizza in PDX, better than Scholls to my tastebuds. But when you take an out of town guest there, and the first thing that happens when she goes up to the bar to get a drink is have the bartender yell at her "you can't sit there because somebody might want to sit and eat," that's bad. This place, like other hotties, is too smug based on its success. Maybe someday the crowd will move on and going there to eat will be relaxing instead of challenging.

<![CDATA[Yes, it's good pizza, but ... it's nuts how all the foodies in town are going into paroxysms of ecstasy about this place, and lining up out the door waiting an hour for the chance to have this pizza. Yeah, it's good, but it's not THAT great. I've had better. And the owner's disparaging comments about Portland in a recent New York Times article definitely suggest an ego inflating from so much adulation. It's a perfectly good little pizza place, but don't wait in line.
