Fruit Cup - I'm not, like, waayyy into baseball - but it does have some good things going for it. It is by far the most cerebral of the major sports. The only American sport in which the defense controls the ball. All the motions are circular. The game is not defined by time.
Best officiating too, really. And a lot of interesting history to boot.
Maybe they don't look as cute in their uniforms though...?
Last weekend my wife and I were walking our little poodle girls by the park and the PSU girls softball team was playing against Seattle. Got some peanuts and enjoyed the game a bit in the sun. It was great, but I think my wife doesn't care much for the game either.
@frankie, no I hear you. I realize a lot of people enjoy baseball, but I've never been able to get into it. Overall I think either of our arguments based on personal preference is too subjective. In terms of worldwide game attendance*, Associated Football leagues make up 2/5 of the top attended leagues in the world (the Australian Football League is also 1/5, they play by different rules). MLB is the 5th most attended sporting league in the world. So, in my view, the game isn't inferior (one can argue that MLS is inferior to MLB, based on stadium attendance). NFL is the top league, worldwide, in terms of attendance.

Personally I enjoy the game because of the player’s nimble athleticism and tight clothing.

@12, since you seem interested in creating a strong argument, or understanding fundamental logic, I submit this for your review: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_analogy

*Fruit Cup has used Wikipedia for all stated fact in this post, fully knowing and acknowledging this is both an internet cliché and may not be fully accurate. Fruit Cup deeply regrets his arm-chair responses and overall laziness.
Second, I am directly involved with some of the beneficiaries of the TA's charitable arm. I am floored by the Army's willingness to engage on so many levels. Proud to count myself a member of 107ist, and would gladly encourage anyone not yet a member to join up. Too good of a movement to pass by. Regardless your politics or stance on baseball/stadiums/taxes.

I am quite proud of the volunteer work the Timbers Army has done. As of today, close to 350 individuals have logged over 2,000 volunteer hours just since we started keeping track midway through 2011, with more volunteer hours added every day. These volunteer activities are split. Some involve the kinds of game day supports that Holly and Lexi describe; others are volunteer hours given back directly to the community through volunteering time with such organizations as Friends of the Trees, Oregon Food Bank, Operation Pitch Invasion, Sunday Parkways, AC Portland, and The American Red Cross, to name a few.

To add to the above, the Timbers Army and 107ist have also created Operation Pitch Invasion, which is dedicated to restoring and maintaining distressed soccer fields in the public parks and schools and building new fields and facilities in communities where they don't exist sufficiently or at all. OPI is working with the Portland Parks, the Portland Public Schools, the Home Forward housing people and other entities to make sure that Soccer City USA isn't just about the major leagues but about the real grass roots of the game.

The Timbers Army, through the 107ist, is also significantly involved in the community. Last year we contributed over $40,000 to local efforts from providing full jerseys and equipment for 4 Portland area high school boys and girls soccer teams to fixing up fields in disrepair so kids can play to funding Harper's Playground which is a soon to be built accessible playground so all kids can play. We also provided scholarships to aspiring soccer players who otherwise would find the registration fees prohibitive.
