When I was working full time at the record store in Seattle in the mid 90's, pulling down nearly two Benjamins per week before taxes, I'd buy drip coffee and bring a packet of hot chocolate from home. People at store laughed at my "Poor Man Mocha", but soon they were all doing it.

I agree with arenit that what you're really wanting is Hot Chocolate. Espresso beverages (like a mocha) have far less caffeine than an actual cup of coffee, so a small Mocha (which generally gets only one shot of espresso) has barely any. Just get some hot chocolate mix.

lol@a mocha. We really are a generation of grown up children. I live directly above a Starbucks and all I see are pear shaped sacks of misery with lanyards and undersized khakis slugging in and out of that place with their Trenta sized "iced coffee" (ie adult milkshake) or "mocha" (ie adult hot cocoa)... Coffee shops have brilliantly paved the way for people to slurp down a liter sized milkshake at 9am by convincing them it's not a milkshake but rather an "iced coffee"... with whip cream and chocolate shavings and who knows what else.

I have no sympathy for your plight. I suggest you worry less about learning to make coffee and invest in some Swiss Miss cocoa packets.. that's the "coffee" you're looking for.
