Wow, did 'itsme2009' get married at the same Acadian I got married at? As with the rest of the posters, we had a great wedding: nice space, outstanding food, and staff handled everything well. We shopped for venues quite extensively, and thought we got a good value. I'm sure if we'd gone to a $25,000 venue instead of a $5,000 one we could have gotten a bit more sucking up and a few extra bits of polish, but what we got was professional, attractive, and precisely what we'd asked for.

I was a guest at the wedding for the previous poster. The food was great and the event was handled very professionally considering the demanding antics from the bride. After the event was over, the bride & DJ trespassed on private property by sneaking in the back door and were asked to leave. Most brides go on their honeymoons after the wedding but the groom was passed out drunk so I guess this was the next best thing. The bride is very vindictive and quite delusional about the events during and after the reception. She could have spent her wedding night in jail but the event manager was to nice to have her arrested as the police officer had suggested. I suggest everyone read ALL the reviews. You'll get a better picture of what really goes on at the Acadian. A professional, upscale place to have your wedding!

The Acadian ballroom had the best value of any place we checked out in Portland. Almost everything is included already. After we booked, we didn’t have to do any planning at all for 6 months because they had taken care of so much of the ceremony and reception. All we needed to arrange were a cake, photographer and florist. The DJ was awesome and played exactly what we wanted from our playlist. The manager was so accommodating – he brought us food, made sure we were comfortable several times throughout the evening and made our parents feel relaxed.

I had my wedding and reception there last spring, and the Acadian made it a perfect event - all our friends and family are still talking about how it was the best reception they've ever been to! The building is beautiful, both inside and out. The ballroom was so great for all our needs - it featured a beautiful art gallery foyer, and then the ballroom itself was gorgeous, with columns, dark wood floor, and elegant windows & draperies. The upstairs loft area also provided a great place for us to hang out and relax before the event (and the bride's room was the perfect "getting ready" area). My family and friends loved the event manager Jonathan, who was very helpful and accommodating while they were setting up before the wedding. During the event, he and the rest of the staff were great about making sure we were well taken care of, and kept in good communication with us about when to do the little reception events (grand entrance, first dance...) , and how we were doing on alcohol supply and what to do with the leftover food. And, oh, the food! We had a wonderful buffet that was interesting and elegant - I get comments a lot about how great the food was. That was the icing on the cake! My girlfriend said afterward that she wished she was having her wedding there instead of the place she chose, although several of our friends said that the Acadian would be their top choice for THEIR weddings someday!

I got married at the Acadian in July of 2009. This company was very helpful with providing well-informed suggestions to us for things like the beer and wine and food choices. Our event planner was great at keeping my wife sane during planning. They have a very cool room for the guys to hang out in before the wedding complete with X-box and theater. My buddy is getting married at the Acadian this summer and says it was the only place that made the groom feel comfortable too.

      The Acadian Ballroom is magic!
I had my fall wedding reception there last year, and it was my dream wedding. Our guests were greeted by a red carpet and friendly doorman in a tuxedo, and enjoyed a cocktail hour with appetizers on silver trays passed by butlers. The ambiance was perfect - beautiful dark wood floors and marble columns, and elegant tables set with china. The staff was great, patient and accommodating, making sure the tables were decorated just how I wanted them, and the service during the reception was wonderful. The event manager, Jake, was often checking in with my dad, who was the contact person, making sure the party was running how we wanted it and that we had everything we needed. And our waiter was great about making sure we got a chance to eat, and even boxed up a little to-go basket of our meal so that we could enjoy any of it that we missed while we were mingling. The sales staff, Zack and Ronda, were great in the months leading up to the event about making sure we had all the details ironed out and they were a pleasure to work with.
Our meal itself was awesome; the chef created a custom menu just for us with maple-glazed pork chops and autumn squashes that fit in with our fall theme perfectly.
All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my reception, the Acadian helped make memories that I will cherish forever.
I had my wedding in December and it was wonderful. Everything from the planning stages all the way up to the end of the reception was a dream. The ballroom was beautiful, the waiters were very friendly and helpful with my family, and our manager Jake was especially fantastic. We felt like he was a part of our family. They were very straight forward with pricing and all that they include and carried out everything flawlessly with even extra surprises added. I would recommend this to any bride who wants her wedding to be special.

I had my wedding reception at the Acadian Ballroom. I LOVED my experience up to the day of my wedding. The event designers were really helpful and assured us that everything was going to be taken care of on our day. I thought it was going to be perfect. The day of my wedding was AWFUL! Our day of event manager was rude, I kid you not - he was blatantly rude to us on our wedding day. It really threw him off that we wanted to do our toast 1/2 hr early and it threw him off that our DJ/MC announced tables to go to the buffet. Our buffet was supposed to be open right from the start, but people were waiting. We had asked for a little basket to be put together for us (Bride & Groom) for later that evening. This included each of our layers of cake and some of our dinner items. The cake was thrown into the box and it wasnt even full pieces. I truly looked like it was left over pieces from other peoples plates. All the layers were mixed together and it was just a plain mess. We never received our individual dinner to have later that night. I was handed the cake once I was outside by my sister and she insisted I not look at it. I did and I was really sad by what happen and went back into the ballroom. I started to talk with the day of event manager. I never swore at him and I kept my distance, but he grabbed by back (along with our DJ) and kicked us out. At the Acadian they use physical violence with their customers (I even asked if this is something they agree that was ok after the fact, and they actually said yes). Yesterday my husband and I went to meet up with our event designer and was shocked by how rude she now was to us. I couldnt believe someone we had put so much trust in and thought we really liked was so rude. She said we were lucky to get the service we did and we were lucky the police didnt take us in. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST DO NOT USE THEM! Im sure if you discuss this situation with them, they will tell you a different story but as I bride/customer I can only warn you. I do know that people have bad nights and its unfortunate the night of our wedding our event manager had some personal issues going on. I did call the police after our meeting yesterday and they indicated she was just trying to bully us such a sad outcome for someones wedding day.
