The band, Temper Trap, was very good as usual. Even if they aren't exactly your style, the live act is quite good.
Somehow The Roseland managed to sound really terrible on the low bass end with high volume throughout the entire show. Also, we had bought our tickets pre-sale through the band's website, but were a bit pissed to find The Roseland had claimed the balcony as "reserved seating" but would gladly collect an "upgrade fee" from us if we wanted to snag a seat. Whatevs.....
I usually dig this venue, as it's a fairly intimate venue. The seeming non communication between the fans, band, and the venue was a case study in how not to host an event.

Sexrat was the kind of band that made me wish I had airbags in my ears. I can't even begin to think what could have possibly made them think they could open for Sublime??? Not Worthy. Torture. Their songs droned on and on while I wondered if any of them who might actually have some talent or style would finally pipe in, but no... there I sat, wishing for the slightest saving grace of even a lousy pair of earplugs. I was in hell. Were they just drunk? What an insult to Sublime, and to my ears. Don't quit your day jobs boys. You suck.

The bar for rock and roll achievement was set higher last night. It was hard to believe how close we all were to the band. Them Crooked Vultures did their part to thaw the frigid Portland souls with wave after wave of solar rock energy. This is a band that can reproduce their record live to a T. I felt really really privileged to be so close to greatness.

I fully enjoyed the show, and to the people who were let down by Shane, I must say, what did you expect? Did you not see the documentary, "If I Should Fall From Grace With God"? Of course he was going to come out in a total-fucking-wreck-state. Did you stay for the end of the show? He came back out and actually killed it on "Sick Bed of cuchulainn", "Fiesta", and if I remember correctly, "Body of an American". He still was slurring every word, but he was understandable and everyone was singing along, and isn't that the point? Everyone in the crowd was jumping and singing and having fun. That is the point of a Pogues show in this day and age. And don't forget "Thousands are Sailing" Which was sung by Phillip Chevron who wrote the song and is currently suffering through cancer treatment. And he did an excellent job of singing his own beautiful song even though he will probably die soon.
