For these people, professional activists, it's not about spotlight or boosting their ego, it comes from a genuine concern about this community. If they wanted attention they would run for political office.

Personally, I think police reforms are going to come only when the drug war is over. Until that happens, police will always consider themselves as paramilitaries, not civil servants.
