What about the rapers of 5-year-olds, Pope? Are they "children of God of the first class"? What do they have to do to get demoted to the second class? Maybe if the kid they were raping is the same gender as them? I imagine that, if we must rape a child, God would rather us rape one of the opposite gender, no? Tell us more, Pope.

Honestly, maxims and the rest of the No vote can go on and on trying to prove how smart you are and post your fancy quotes and blah blah blah. The same can also be said for the Pro vote. It won't change the fact that logic and reason are NOT on your side. The fact that this has become such a heated debate is shocking to me. I grew up in a city that flouridated, so I know the benefits of it.

There only two questions that should be asked; Is it safe? Yes. Does it work? Yes.

Kind of a no brainer, but the far left want to turn it into a bigger issue than it needs to be. And for the record, I'm about as far left as they come. I believe in socialism and hope to see firearms of all kinds completely banned. But on this issue, I have to go with my experience and all logical reasoning which tells me flouride in the water is nothing to fear.

How is it unclear about the cost? The city code has a bright line hard cap at $500,000 for first year start up costs. Its either under the cap, at the cap or over the cap. According to this from March, the changes back then were already projected to jump the start up costs over the cap, but as far as I can tell from the city code, the cap is still at $500,000.
Lets not forget the main and really only reason why every major city has flouridated their water. That is to help the less fortunate, those who can't afford or who have probably never been to a dentist, from losing their teeth.

I would argue that it's a lot easier for the well-to-do to take flouride out of their water than it is for the less fortunate to add it to it. Not everyone in this city comes from a white, upper middle-class background, even though it sure feels that way most of the time.

I don't think you understand why most people voted for the arts tax. It's because a LOT of schools were about to lose arts programs. If science programs were in the same danger, put it on the ballot and I'll vote for that too. But they're not.

I wish the RACC hadn't gotten a chunk of the arts tax money, not because I dislike the RACC but because most of us were far more concerned about the schools than unidentifiable chunks of metal being placed around town.

This vote just proves this town is run by a bunch of stupid, well-to-do white people. Ok, lets not do what every other major city has done and which actually works, all so we can remain "weird."

I find it ironic that a city and state that claims to be helping children by shielding them from so-called harmful chemicals like flouride and vaccines, has the highest rates of autism in the nation. Not to mention the worst teeth outside of the deep south.

Chris, please don't give full reviews for places like this in the future. Any of us can go and try a slice for ourselves with little risk. Save your reviews for eateries with more varied menus or that are likely to cause a person to pause before deciding wether or not to spend their hard earned dollars there. Pizza places like this are kind of a no-brainer.

Yay, another New York style pizza place. How exciting. Sorry if the sarcasm isn't coming through in print.

This town will never understand what truly great pizza is. Apizza Scholls is the only place that comes close. Thank god, I'll be back in Milwaukee next month where I can enjoy a decent pie. The new Pizza Man should be open by then. Might trek down to Chicago for a proper deep dish too.

I love how the Mercury isn't concerned with what the funds will be used for, or how poorly the tax it was implemented. Nah, it's far easier to write a blog post saying "Pay up! Here's another due date!"

Bravo! Some award-worthy alt-journalism happening here.

Do they accept Oregon Trail cards? Because that's all I've got to pay the damn thing. I make $500 dollars a year over the poverty line. Who voted this crap in?? Wasn't me. One of the reasons I chose not to have children was I felt that I didn't have sufficient financial resources to support them, now I've got to pay for someone else's kids art class. A real artist doesn't need classes. You've either got it or you don't. The schools don't even teach the basics anymore! This is BS! What's next after this one!?

Sorry, but a pizza with barely any sauce or cheese and scant, thinly-sliced toppings sounds very weak. It doesn't weep any oil because it lacks cheese, and hence, substance. Sure, they may eat neatly, but this is an inferior way to analyze New York style pizza, or any pizza for that matter. Seems like their just trying to keep their food costs down by skimping on ingredients. Little Caesars sounds better than this one.
