The city selected the day and time in part because these roads are nearly unused on a sunday. None of the streets with the event occurs on sees anywhere near 15000 people worth of vehicle traffic during this period on a normal Sunday. The event is a soft closure which means that bicycles and pedestrians have the right of way over all motor vehicles during the closure unless instructed to wait by one of the volunteers manning the intersections. So when the event comes to your area you should understand that while access will be maintained to all homes in the neighborhood everyone using the parkway to ride/walk/rollerblade etc does in fact have the right of way over you, so don't run them over. The sharing in this case is that this is a soft closure and not a hard one so you and everyone else who lives near the event can still drive your car right into your driveway without any problem.

When and where did I say anything about driving at high speeds econoline?? No where. I will share the road and give you right of way when you have it, but don't fucking expect me or anyone to give up our right of way when you and your kids blast thru stop signs and red lights. And what the fuck does the day of the week have anything to do with this?? With events like this you are teaching your children to expect special consideration when riding their bikes and to not share the road.

There will be volunteers at each and every corner of the event who will help anyone who lives within the event cross safely. At most you may be delayed less than the length of one average traffic light signal. For that small inconvenience our city is able to add miles of linear park for the day. I am not sure what parkway event you were at, but I don't think parents wanting their kids to be able to go for a bike ride in a safe environment automatically qualifies them as arrogant. Thinking that you have the right to drive at high speed on residential streets on a sunday might though. These events have proven themselves to be very popular in part because there is a lack of linear park facilities in our city. Sunday parkways allow them to be created temporarily at a far lower cost than installing similar permanent facilities.

Your attitude about running people over makes me think that perhaps you should not have a driver's license at all. You pretty much sound like this guy:

http://bikeportland.org/2009/08/29/man-cha…

or this guy:

http://bikeportland.org/2008/08/26/clinton…

If you really feel that it is ok to hurt another person with your car because you don't think they are moving out of your way fast enough please seek professional therapy before you do hurt someone and end up in jail like these people.

First off I use to ride a lot, but due to injuries I cannot anymore. When I did ride I wasn't a fucking prick like you bicyclists in this city.
Second I never ever go near where the crappy Blazers are or are playing a game. There is one of these events coming up that complete go around and surround where I live, so to get anywhere I would have not choice but to deal with you fucks.
Third if you are teaching your small children to be arrogant prick bicycling fucks like you are, they deserve to be run the fuck over!

good call, 15000 people attended the event today, if you were inconvenienced in the slightest the best option would be to run someone down, which based on the attendees I saw would more than likely be a small child... I guess the same should be said about blazers games, if they cause the slightest bit of traffic then that would be cause for luckybulldog to run over anyone in a blazer's jersey near the stadium.
