Adrienne Butzer's photographs of Barbie are inspired by the dioramic toy portaits of David Levinthal. She promises a Barbie "as she was meant to look," but at the same time, one that pulls her away from the glamorous little girl dreams she inspires and "back into the realm of reality." Reality Barbie? I want one! Seth A. Leamer's paintings break the rule that toys are ageless, and imagines the action figures he played with long ago as grown-up people leading adult lives. Reality Spiderman? I want one!
