WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26

Mr. Bones w/Our First Brains, Valley Girls; Laughing Horse Books, 12 NE 10th
Local power-pop/lo-fi upstarts Mr. Bones' band name is a reference to a horrible Sega Saturn game starring a talking (and musically inclined) skeleton, and the band's debut EP, Grum, is a reference to a Tim and Eric skit that is essentially a parody of Shrek. Nonetheless, opening track "You Don't Have a Skull of Your Own" sports a chorus that Bob Pollard would have traded away all his Beatles records to be able to write.

The Orwells w/Twin Peaks, Criminal Hygiene; Star Theater, 13 NW 6th
Garage pop-revivalists the Orwells released a decent record in 2012, Remember When, but things didn't really take off until last year's brilliant and indelible single "Who Needs You." That old square David Letterman liked their performance on The Late Show so much that he personally requested an encore, to these young punks' visible embarrassment.

THURSDAY, MARCH 27

Arctic Flowers w/Vexx, Criminal Code, Neighborhood Brats; Blackwater Records, 223 NE Russell
Equal parts grunge, pop-punk, and Ian Curtis fetishism, and not nearly as obnoxious as that sounds.

FRIDAY, MARCH 28

Honduran w/Brain Scraper, Pleasure Cross, Order of the Gash; Slabtown, 1033 NW 16th
Colossal, confrontational, local power-violence heroes. "Pregnant Skeletons" might also be the best song title since "It's All About the Pentiums."

MONDAY, MARCH 31

Pianos Become the Teeth w/La Dispute, Mansions; Branx, 320 SE 2nd
Histrionic, hilariously melodramatic post-hardcore that the kids can't get enough of. "Hiding," the song on Pianos' side of a new split with similarly humorless shredders Touché Amoré, is pretty wonderful, even if it is the Tumblr-core equivalent of an episode of General Hospital.
