Restaurant Details

It's strangely easy to miss this colorful Middle-Eastern restaurant on NE Broadway, but keep your eyes peeled: The somewhat exotic atmosphere and friendly staff encourage you to peruse the extensive menu while snacking on freshly baked flatbread and puffing from a hooka. Lots to choose from here, from lamb to kebobs to kibbeh. Many meat dishes can be made vegan on request so make it up to your PC friends for that time you made them go to Ruth's Chris.

I have no idea why everyone fights tooth and nail to get into Nicholas', while their other location is usually empty. Arabian has FAR better options, a more balanced menu and works well for big parties. Try the garlic sauce (it burns, but it's worth it) and their crispy falafel.

Some of the things I tried here were really interesting and inventive while others were dully flavored. I loved the mezza platter, however, and most especially the carmelized onion spread. I still tend toward Nicholas, though...maybe I'll have to try some more of their items!

Whatever that seeded oil stuff they serve with the bread is, it's addictive. I've only eaten here once and found it pretty decent. I should go back.

Went there for lunch, there was hardly anyone there and I know why. No lunch menu -wtf?. The portions are all huge and priced accordingly. There's hardly any way you could get out of there for under $11 which is way too much for lunch in my book unless your are eating somewhere really upscale. And the service left a bit to be desired. We had long decided by the time the host/waiter finally came over, breaking off his long-winded conversation with someone at another table, after I tried to get his attention. Then when it came time to get the check and head back to work, he was no where to be seen. One positive: I do like the bread and the seed/herb oil.
