Brainstorm, Sahel Sounds

When: Mon., Sept. 10, 10:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $5-7
The TBA program notes that Christopher Kirkley is a "self-described amateur ethnomusicologist and gentleman explorer of the South African Sahel," which—damn. If it's that easy, allow me to self-describe as a "master orgasmologist and gentleman assassin of the Delta Quadrant." And since I have a title like that, you can trust me when I say that Global and Mobile Pop—presented by Kirkley, under the label Sahelsounds, along with Portland art-pop band Brainstorm—sounds like a giddy evening of A/V overload. There'll be music, remixed YouTubes, "live cell phone feeds" (FROM WHERE?!), and Skyped concerts from Africa, with everything concentrated into a show that conveys the "vast weirdness of the internet era." Yes! See you there! If you can't find me, ask any attractive lady you see for "the master orgasmologist." First she will smile with satisfaction, then she will seductively point you in my direction. I will be dancing. EH
