As the next step in the Suddenly project’s investigation into suburban sprawl, organizers will be screening Jem Cohen’s 2004 film CHAIN, which is a dream-like montage of shopping malls, franchise stores, and soul-crushingly desolate corporate compounds. Apropos to the topic, the screening will be held at Shabu-Shabu Korean BBQ, a couple blocks from the Beaverton MAX Transit Center. Former director of the Northwest Film Forum Michael Seiwerath will be on hand to lead the drunken discourse that will no doubt ensue.
