Restaurant Details

Crema is a highbrow, renovated-warehouse-like coffee shop and bakery, with huge garage door windows and long lines of salivating customers. The long lines may have something to do with the fact that they craft some of the finest baked goods in the area along with homemade soups and sandwiches. If you're looking for an exquisite coffee drink or loose leaf tea and an artisan baked good (scone! try the scones!), then Crema is your spot. As with anything good in town, it can get (gasp!) crowded on the weekends.

Ok so everyone knows that Crema has the best pastries in town, and some of the best baristas, and a great space with great art. But my god does it take them a long time to get a coffee drink up! A little urgency on getting coffee orders out would be great. Also they need to extend their hours.

I was shocked at how good the baked goods coming out Crema were the first tiem I tried them; I guess I have been used to dried up scones and overly sweet, one-dimensional creations at a lot of the popular cafes in town. I agree the service can be kind of slow, but I'll suffer it kindly for a mushroom manchego biscuit (drool).

Crema is amazing.... a regular stop for a friday or saturday morning. Always good! The baristas are sweet and smily and work hard. You WILL want to try everything!! But my fav's are the mushroom manchego biscuit and the zuchinni muffin. YUM!

So, yeah, waiting in line 7 minutes for a pastry while the cute guy behind the register chats up every girl in line (including the old, sweet lady!) kind of sucks, but hey, I kept getting to sneak a peek at those beautiful eyes while waiting! It was worth it and I'm definitely going back for coffee and a scone, making sure I have plenty of time on my hands to chat up the cute guys behind the counter.

For too long, I'd just assumed, based on exterior observation, that some serious gentrification was "ruining" the flair of the neighborhood. Then I tried their scones. What a fool I was. Hot damn, what fantastic food! THE BEST pastries that you will find in town. They serve Stumptown coffee too, so don't worry about that: deliciousness is already covered.
