Ethan Rose

When: Mon., Sept. 8, 10:30 p.m. 2008
Price: $8-10
Ethan Rose uses old music equipment to create new sounds—patient, atmospheric works involving the likes of player pianos and music boxes—and he’s a perfect fit for a festival dedicated to blurring the boundaries between disciplines. Not only did he provide music on the soundtrack to Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park, but his work was recently on display at Portland’s Tilt Gallery, in an installation in which a microphone set inside a modified player piano created a constantly changing composition.
