The Future of Food Screening, Thurs April 7, Redwing Cafe, 1700 SE 6th, 6 pm, free

In the Mercury's recent "Hail to the Chief of Culture" feature ["Don't Panic, Buy Organic," March 17], I offered to send my copy of The Future of Food to anyone who wanted it. I underestimated how many calls I'd get, and am incapable of sending a copy to everyone. Thankfully, though, Resistance Against Genetic Engineering and the Pacific Green Party have teamed up to screen the film (and, while they're at it, save my ass). To those of you who want to see the movie--which documents what could be the cataclysmic consequenses of genetic engineering--please head out for this screening. KS

Wax also offers a full hot and cold espresso menu, plus a host of delicious milkshakes, bubble teas, and mocktails. Wax celebrates its Grand Opening on Tuesday, April 5. KS

Simpatica Sunday Brunch @ Pix, 3402 SE Division, 232-4407, 10 am-2 pm weekly

While the spectacular catering company Simpatica has been putting on brunch at Pix for a while now, it's still an event worth mentioning. The menu changes weekly to incorporate seasonal offerings and meats from the company's butcher shop, Viande Meats and Sausage (corner of NW 21st & Kearney). Regular menu items include the Merguez sausage and potato hash with seasonal vegetables and eggs, cream pancakes with orange marmalade, Chantilly cream, and a side of bacon, and an asparagus, artichoke, and blue cheese fritatta.
