Portland Indie Wine Festival, 407 NW 16th at Flanders, 595-0891, Sat-Sun 3-6 pm, $60 for one day, $100 for both

Calling all wine snobs! This event is your wet dream. Forty-two Oregon wineries have been jury selected to appear this weekend at an orgy of sniffing, swirling, tasting, and screaming, "I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!" $60 gets you a tasting from all the wineries (anyone who slugs down all 42 and is still standing should get their money back), a selection of vittles from restaurants like clarklewis, Nostrana, and Vindalho, AND a commemorative crystal tasting glass! Sunday evening also includes a movie screening of The Real Dirt on Farmer John at the Mission Theater, 7 pm. Hit indiewinefestival.com for the full lineup of participating wineries and restaurants. Cricket Café Revamp, 3159 SE Belmont, 235-9348, grand reopening May 5, 7:30 am–4 pm

One of Portland's most popular weekend brunch spots, the Cricket Café has touched up its image a bit with a new paint job, a remodeled floor area, and gallons of booze. They'll tie in an official grand reopening this Friday with Cinco de Mayo, featuring sombrero-clad bartenders, fish taco specials, and house-infused jalapeno vodka. The new drinks menu has a whole arsenal of specialty cocktails to choose from, including the "Bloody Gary" (a more macho Bloody Mary), and liquor concoctions made from the restaurant's house-roasted coffee. That hour-long line on Sunday just became a little easier to endure... JWS

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Thurs-Sun, 11 am–late, $6 admission

One of the region's biggest Mexican culture celebrations, the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta has, among other things, loads of traditional music and dance, carnival rides aplenty (yes!), a showcase of Spanish and Mexican horses, and more great food than you can nod your sombrero at. Past restaurants in attendance have included Salvador's Bakery, La Juanita, and the excellently named Mister Taco. Hit cincodemayo.org for the full lineup. JWS
