Pancake Breakfast, Liberty Hall, 311 N Ivy, Sat Dec 16, 9 am-2 pm, $3-5

Laughing Horse is a progressive, collectively run bookstore that stocks hard-to-find radical books and zines. Show your support for this fine community resource in the most delightful manner possible: by eating lots of pancakes. Proceeds from the buffet-style pancake breakfast will benefit Laughing Horse, and there will also be a large selection of crafts, zines, and books available for purchase. AH

Winter Solstice Market, South Park Blocks between SW Harrison & Montgomery, Sat Dec 16, 9:30 am-2 pm

It's that sad time already: The farmers' market is closing up shop as of this weekend. Don't miss your last chance to score all kinds of local goodies, from produce to chocolate to syrup. Gift basket service will be provided, so be sure to pick up some artisan cheese or a bottle of olive oil for the foodies on your Christmas list. AH

Evening with Ebenezer, BridgePort BrewPub and Bakery, 1313 NW Marshall, Sat Dec 16, 6-9 pm, $50, 241-7179 for reservations

Dinner and theater, together at last. BridgePort Brewing Co. presents the fourth annual "Evening with Ebenezer": a three-course meal (paired with BridgePort ales, of course) and a reading of A Christmas Carol by local thespian Joe Cronin. Tickets are a little spendy, but proceeds go to help pay the medical bills for an uninsured six-year old with cerebral palsy. 'Tis the season. AH
