My first trip to IFCC was a total pleasure. Neat space, great art gallery (including some excellent art pieces,) impressive theatre by resident company Key Productions, plus a fun crowd enjoying it all. I wish I lived nearer - I'd be a regular without fail!!
Great to see a "gay" company dealing with broader issues. The main parts were very well acted indeed - and the immediacy of the space worked way better than the movie in terms of drawing viewers into the action, humor and tension of it all. While the concept for the play is basically silly, the first night audience, because of the good acting, didn't let that get in the way.
If - gay or striaght and everthing in between - you don't have a perfect body image, or are aware that you are hooked on what people look like rather than who they are inside - you should see this play. Would be good for parents or teachers to recommend to teens too!
Sarcasm doesn't even touch the depths of humor in this play. As a mutli-media extravaganza, it entertains, enlightens and serves as the traditional function of a cultural release valve for the intense issue facing us today: the economy, class stratification, erasure. map~map's musical addition to the video, dance, clown and puppetry that is happening on stage makes it a piece that fills the senses. This is a not to miss from a new ensemble that is exploding onto the scene.
This was a great play. Lucky Apple is a new production company and they made a great debut with Fat Pig. Excellent cast, and Casey McFeron (Carter) had a great performance that left us wanting more.
i enjoyed the honesty and subject matter of the play. really glad i went. i thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack, can anyone help me purchase it? please?
