TO THE EDITOR: Responding to Sarah Leimert [Letters to the Editor, Oct. 19]. How dare to compare Wm. Steven Humphrey to that garbage scratching muck called Tom Robbins. That piece of chili fungo low scooper smarmy bastard. The scabbing Gallagher creep. Writing with his kid sister's playdo pencils. Crayon MUCUS. Tom Robbins can kiss and then sneer at him meanly. Goddamn it Tom Robbins SUCKS!!!! can't even anger cutting my brain

TED... FACE IT. YOU'RE A HIPPIE.
DEAR KATIA DUNN: I recently purchased the new Gravity and Henry album you reviewed [CD Review, Oct. 19]. I, too, have not been able to remove it from my CD player. You expressed that the cover art caused you hesitation. "Hippie art," I believe you called it. Well, I am very concerned about my image and how I am perceived by others, and the truth is that I love the artwork that ornaments this CD. Have you seen all of it? Inside the CD, there is a naked lady clutching a fish to her breast. I have it hanging on the wall in my room.
I don't want anyone thinking I am a hippie, though. I consider your opinion of extreme value. If you could just get back to me and further clarify your opinion on this subject, I would be very grateful.
Ted
A LOVE POEM FROM FRANCE
TO THE EDITOR:
The water closet
This is best place for your paper
In the toilet like the big baguette
I have read and am not impressed
You are like wiping with the recycled toilet paper (which my roommate does.
I think maybe you and him have a lot in common, no?)
Are you really American? I am disappoint
The news you print is "Le Merde"
The reviews you print is "Encore plus de Merde"
Where is your head? In the "Cul" perhaps?
Your making jokes is not funny
Fuck you.

SHOULD WE TELL HIM PHISH BROKE UP?
FROM THE RANT LINE: Hi Katia. I'm just calling because I read your review on Bittersweet Motel [Film Shorts, Sept. 28]. I do like Phish, but I thought it was pretty funny how you called everybody idiots who follow around Phish. Obviously, you've never seen the band live.
I think your review was biased. I think when you review a movie you shouldn't let your personal feelings towards the subject matter affect it. I think you should look at the film as a whole.
Anyway, you're probably only like, 19, and you probably only listen to alternative. So, good luck. Watch the movie again or, you know what? Listen to more Phish.

Anna Vail
Former Health Program Coordinator at Outside-In
The Mercury responds: Brahmani Houston's article raised
these very points about protecting victims' interests. To clarify, Outside-In
only sends victims of sexual assault who may have outstanding warrants to St.
Vincent's. The Mercury stands by Ms. Houston's statement that this translates
as a "vote of no confidence" in OHSU and Multnomah County's policies.
