Letters to the Editor

BIGOTS BASH BACK!
[HEY READERS! The stink over our Life Decisions International cover [March 31] continues! The Mercury's response to this letter was posted on a conservative Christian website (link). As a result, we've received a landslide of hilarious and nutty letters. Here are a choice few.!

DEAR SIR/MADAM:
I read your comments of your love for abortion. --You are genuinely very sick and depraved and I will endeavor to punish your shameful organization both politically and economically in any way that I can.

Bruce Papps

TO THE EDITOR:
NAME CALLING SEEMS TO BE YOUR STRONG POINT YOU GEEK! JESUS LOVES YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU HATE HIM! MY FRIEND REPENT FROM YOUR EVIL BECAUSE JUDGEMENT IS VERY SOON, SOONER THAN YOU THINK. REMEMBER NOAH AND THE FLOOD? I KNOW THIS FALLS ON YOUR REPROBATE AND UNBELIEVING MIND BUT AT THE VERY LEAST YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, BECAUSE ALL ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE ON THAT GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY OF JUDGEMENT! SO LOOK OUT BUDDY BOY...

SCOTT W.

TO THE EDITOR:
It always pleases me-- when--lefty, morally degenerate aborto-nazis insist on spewing--their bile in public. Who needs to counter anything you say with rational argument, when you scare most normal citizens all by your lonesome. And the horses as well.

Every time you open your gob, or write yet another tediously--juvenile piece, the veil is lowered a tad allowing even--more--to see just how nasty and vile--the deathocrats, the commies, the trots, the lefties, the socialists really are. Keep it up comrade.

Dave Smith, London, England

TO WM. STEVEN HUMPHREY:
You sound like some teenage rapper on drugs the way you rant and rave at those who disagree with you. --I think your attitude stinks and am happy I do not live in your area of the country.

A reader of WorldNetDaily.com

TO THE EDITOR:
--I THINK YOUR PAPER IS A RAG, AND INDICITIVE OF WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY… YOU MAY HAVE A FOLLOWING OUT THERE, CAUSE THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF TROUBLED, SICK, SATANIC, EVIL PEOPLE, RIGHT? --BUT I FOR ONE, BEING A SINGLE MOM OF AN EIGHT YEAR OLD BEAUTIFUL BOY, WHICH I CHOSE NOT TO DISFIGURE, TORTURE AND THROW IN A TRASH CAN LIKE--YESTERDAY'S SEXUAL LEFTOVERS, I HOPE THAT MR. STEVEN HUMPHREY GETS WHAT IS COMING TO HIM AND HIS ILK. SOMEHOW I BELIEVE HE WILL.

TRISH LEWIS

CIVIL UNIONS ARE FOR SELLOUTS!
TO THE EDITOR: [RE: "Settling for Less," April 21] I agree with the Mercury. To fight for separate and unequal treatment under the law, for GLBT Oregonians, is ludicrous. A slap in the face, if you will . If we should get civil union status it will likely be as far as we EVER get. That means we could always be a separate class under Oregon Law. I'm not a big fan of scrambling for the crumbs that fall from the master's table. I want to SIT at that Motherfucker in a chair for my fat ass.

When we are under attack from radical, evangelical, religious, right-wing Bible Thugs, BRO is a relatively effective ally. However, when it comes to pro-actively demanding equality on our behalf, they seem to tuck their collective tails between their legs. BRO appears to take the position that "getting along" with oppressors until some mythical day when they realize that we are citizens, too, is the prudent way to wait for what our constitution was SUPPOSED to guarantee us FROM ITS INCEPTION! I'm so grateful that those wonderful drag queens at Stonewall took a different position. If they hadn't, I doubt that there would even BE a BRO today.

God love BRO for their good work and intentions. But, what ALL of Oregon needs, friend and foe alike, is a basic rights organization that believes that gay and lesbian Oregonians are full citizens of this state, deserve to be treated equally under the law, and will settle for nothing less! BRO is obviously not that organization… YET!

Gregory Franklyn

CONGRATS GREGORY for winning the Mercury "Letter of the Week," which includes two tickets to the Laurelhurst and two passes to see Zeke at Dante's on May 5th. We couldn't have said it better ourselves!
