In May of this year, tragedy struck one of Portland's most cherished voices and Walt Curtis lost his home and his unpublished writing to a horrible fire. Now, in an initiative to rebuild the life Curtis has, Mayor Sam Adams has declared July 1st-7th Walt Curtis Week and many a benefit has been organized to help pick up the pieces. Tonight to benefit Curtis, Cinema 21 will be screening Gus Van Sant's classic adaptation of Curtis' acclaimed work Mala Noche.
