Ladies: if you've ever been at karaoke singing "Crazy on You" and, during the extreme vocal solo part, thought, "This would be much radder if I could just tear open my shirt for maximum theatrical impact," Karaoke-a-Go-Go is the answer to your prayers.

This "sex-positive, girl-positive, DIY dance party," hosted by DJ Devrox and the ladies of Cherry, encourages full-on go-go dancing (even nude go-go dancing) during their '80s/contemporary-music karaoke soiree, which will benefit All Women's Health Services, a holistic women's clinic in Northeast. Says organizer Cortney Harding: "I wanted to create a safe space for women to express themselves, dance, and have fun--and celebrate a wide range of female beauty and sexuality. People can go-go dance and do as much or as little as they're comfortable with. If they wanna get up and take off their tops, that's cool, or just shake their asses, that's cool, too--whatever's in their comfort level."

If this event takes off, Harding says Cherry will become a monthly event. "Cake is a monthly event in New York with different sex-positive and girl-positive themes. I'd like to turn Cherry into a monthly like that. The second Cherry would maybe be 'Erotic Bedtime Stories,' which might benefit Planned Parenthood."

Since this is mostly for the ladies, men wishing to attend must be accompanied by a female escort. Says Harding, "I want to avoid 15 guys in white baseball caps showing up just to ogle women." JULIANNE SHEPHERD
