SUNDAY 2/10

* "Coming to Voice, Then & Now" with Lawson Fusao Inada
It's the 60th anniversary of Executive Order 9066. Count yourself fortunate if this means little to you; for others, it was life-altering, resulting in the internment of thousands of Japanese Americans. It really happened, here in our free country, though many forget or never learned. Lawson Fusao Inada, author and editor of Only What We Could Carry, will open this commemorative ceremony with a reading, followed by a silent walk to the Japanese American Historical Plaza at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Now, as we work to understand the role of other races and religions, citizens of differing views living in one country, reflection on this part of our past is perhaps more urgent than ever. NW Natural Gas Building, NW 2nd & Davis, 4th floor conference room, 3-5 pm
