An upscale BBQ pit, decent beer selection, friendly staff, and big ol' plates of BBQ with all the fixin's. $12 for dinner and you can eat the leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day. Not much vegetarian fare though.

As a local fatass, I feel that it's my duty to share that this place is fucking fantastic and that everyone should go. That being said, if one goes and doesn't try the marvelous baked macaroni and cheese, then said self should kill themselves immediately, having missed out completely on true elbowed goodness! The booze selection is pretty good too.

i know you want the ribs, but trust me, get the sausage with the killer sauce, the greens, and slaw. and a shiner bock. heaven on earth.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in all of Portland. The homemade mac and cheese is better than any I've ever tried, and the turkey salad is spectacular. BBQ shrimp is my favorite, although everything I've tried on the menu is great.

The Russell Street BBQ is really just getting better and better. New management has things going quicker and smoother, the servers are generally on the ball and delightful, and the addition of a full bar with some of the most amazing and original infusions ever certainly has spiced up the dining experience. The house-made BBQ sauces are all delicious and well described. And, being a seafood-only vegetarian, I was ecstatic to learn of all the veggie and seafood options. The rubbed and smoked BBQ tofu is the best I've ever experienced. Get it as a platter with their light, fluffy cornbread and two of an amazing array of sides (greens, mac and cheese, candied yams, smoky baked beans, and slaw are all amazing), or have it on a bun with cheese and pickles for a delicious and satisfying light lunch. If you're in the mood for seafood, go on a Wednesday and try the blue plate special: catfish with lemon butter served over a smoky cornbread stuffing, a brilliant combination. Of course the shrimp is always excellent. Sadly, the salmon was very dry and disappointing the one time I tried it. Maybe it was a fluke. The appetizers, however, are always consistently good. If you've never tried the pimento cheese spread, prepare to become an addict. This place is very reasonably priced (dinners can last to be three meals and are just as good reheated) and has always satisfied.
