Creative cuisine and cocktails. The Saucebox is a conceptualized restaurant with modern pan-asian and pacific islands food and sleek, hip interior decor. The cocktail menu is monstrous, so take your time deciding. The food is spicy and delicate mostly Asian-inspired and fancy but not so high brow/experimental that you don't know what you're eating. Live DJs add to the hip-factor.

Saucebox may look hoity-toity and intimidating... And rightfully so, the decor is fancy schmancy, and the servers are all quite well groomed... But everyone is nice and attentive, there's good music, the drinks are always on point, and most importantly, the food is KILLER. (Try the Tapioca Dumplings!) I wouldn't say it's overpriced, but I wouldn't say it's exactly cheap. food for 3 with drinks will run you about 80 bucks... Not TOO bad...
The sushi at Saucebox is inventive, high quality, and by far the best sushi I've had in Portland. It's worth the extra money, although I can't necessarily say the same for their entrees. Also, their mixed drinks very enjoyable.
what a great spot. i have yet to find a drink on there amazing drink menu that i did not like. the food never disapoints and the staff is very atentave. this is a great spot to start your night out.
Believe me- I should know... I've been swilling it up around these parts for a baker's dozen... and the drinks at Saucebox are ALWAYS IMPECCABLE- and stylishly served by a stellar staff. It's swank w/o being pretentious with amazingly tantalizing menu and a SWEET happy hour folks...yum. A favorite of mine since the day it opened over 10yrs ago. If you ever have a chance to attend one of their now rare parties- I suggest you go.
I never received the food I ordered and when I went to ask the bar tender about it after my server NEVER came back I was scolded for asking. I think most restaurants attempt to at least please their guests if they’re having an off night, not scold their customers for asking where the food is after waiting a ½ hour. My boyfriend did receive his crappy Pad Thai and it was so full of sodium that I felt my blood pressure rise after a few bites. This was third time I had been there and all three times the food was mediocre at best. After being treated so rudely I will NEVER go back. Funny thing is I’ve told about five people about my terrible experience thus far, and they all said they’ve had terrible service as well. Maybe this place should be called SUCKSASSBOX.
