Last Saturday, May 12, Sandbox Studio lit up for Open Season, the Mercury's eighth annual spring showcase of Portland fashion. The well-heeled crowd was treated to new work from 13 talented designers in an epic show that featured moments of performance art, like Julia Barbee's three belly-dancing models, who performed a short set while balancing Barbee's decadent head pieces. Poler sent out a couple boisterous models, who injected a little levity into the evening, including a male model sporting one of the company's signature wearable sleeping bags who bounded gleefully down the runway, and Shadow Sisters made its debut on the backs of notable club personalities.
