Best known as the right hand man of Jenny Lewis (a role also shared by Johnathan Rice, and once, long ago, Fred Savage), Blake Sennett dusts off the Elected for the release of Bury Me in My Rings. Stepping away from his work in Rilo Kiley, the Elected represent the sun-drenched California pop section of Sennett's songwriting book. Bury Me isn't as essential as some of his other work—other bands do the breezy '70s AM pop thing better—but it's an otherwise pleasant and enjoyable recording of glistening pop gems. Joining them will be the underappreciated Whispertown (formerly Whispertown 2000), lead by Morgan Nagler and her special guest collaborator, Neva Dinova singer Jake Bellows. EZRA ACE CARAEFF
