While TBA brings unique performances from around the world to Portland’s doorstep, the most exciting parts of the festival are often the site-specific performances that could only take place here. Third Angle New Music Ensemble’s Frozen Music II draws inspiration fully from its venue, the iconic Ira Keller Fountain. Architect Lawrence Halprin designed the cascading fountain in 1971, inspired by the choreography of his wife, dancer Anna Halprin. Third Angle takes the minimalist compositions of the Halprins’ artistic contemporaries to combine design, dance, and music for a show that is not only about the fountain—it is the fountain. Be prepared to get wet.
