Disjecta Defined
Disjecta concludes its three-week run of ass-kicking at its probable new home in the Templeton Building with a SWEET art auction hosted by A.C. Dickson, and featuring items from over 60 incredible artists, including Bean Gilsdorf, Marne Lucas, Melody Owen, and Ryan Pierce. Templeton Building , 230 E Burnside, Sat 7 pm

Texas ultra-mod abstract painter Aaron Parazette once said about abstract painting: (I'm paraphrasing here) "With abstract painting, there are devout followers, and there are atheists. I'd like to think I'm more of an agnostic." Elizabeth Leach Gallery is currently highlighting the work of six fundamentalist abstract expressionists, including Judy Cooke, Joan Mitchell, and Pat Steir. Elizabeth Leach Gallery , 417 NW 9th Ave., 224-0521, Through July 2 PDX

Artists Group Show
It seems like it's just every couple of months that I'm tipping my hat to a group show of gallery artists, but that's for two reasons: they're a recurrent part of the local art landscape, and they're always better than pretty good. PDX's group show features Lisa Lockhart, Elizabeth Knight, David Shratter, and many more. PDX , 604 NW 12th Ave, 222-0063, Through July 2

Shadow Boxers
ward-winning Portland photographer Jim Lommasson shows photographs from his new book Shadow Boxers: Sweat, Sacrifice, and the Will to Survive in American Boxing Gyms, a project that took the photographer to over 100 Rocky-style training facilities around the country. Lommasson's style is hardly groundbreaking, but anyone interested in solid documentary work or in pugilism should be pleased. Basil Hallward Gallery at Powell's City of Books , 1005 W Burnside St, 228-4651, Through July 4
