Cut and Paste
Eva Lake and Wid Chambers have opened a new gallery, Chambers, in the old Elizabeth Leach space downtown. Their first exhibition features two assemblage artists, Paul Fujita and Eunice Parsons. Chambers , 207 SW Pine St. #102, Through Aug. 27

Flotsam
Joe Macca cannot be contained. At a recent show at PDX Gallery, he exhibited remarkably different bodies of work--luscious monochrome glaze paintings alongside sardonic drawings on toilet paper tubes. New American Art Union is showing a grab bag of recent projects: collages from Artforum, postcard collaborations, a video of he, Jeff Jahn, and Jane Beebe baking cookies, and half-finished paintings that you can complete when you visit the gallery. New American Art Union , 922 SE Ankeny St., 231-8294, through July 30

Quilts From Gee's Bend
Not to be confused with Quilts of Gee's Bend, the critically acclaimed exhibition of Modernist-looking quilts from a depressed rural community in Alabama, Quilts From Gee's Bend is a pared down sample of many of the same quilts, dating from the 1930s to the present. Elizabeth Leach Gallery , 417 NW 9th Ave., 224-0521, Through July 30

Vintage Vandals Reprised
Local artist Jason Sturgill invited a group of artists to scour thrift stores for kitschy works of art, then to modify and repaint them to create late-coming collaborations with the anonymous creators. The results are hit-or-miss, but offer up several gems. Savage Art Resources , 1430 SE Third Ave, 230-0265, Through Aug 13
