HANDS IN THE AIR if you like music festivals! If this were an actual poll, I bet a lot of enthusiastic twentysomethings would have their hands way up high! Here's the thing... I did Coachella back when it was only one weekend a year. I got to see a ton of my favorite bands, and though I didn't even camp, it was still disgusting. Way hot, too many headdresses, damp smelly porta-potties, and spending $60 to get drunk is not my idea of a good time. I checked out South by Southwest once too, and had a fucking blast—actually it was probably one of the best weekends of my life. But these days, I've been told it's not so fun, and when I went in 2013 a lot of people were already saying it had jumped the shark, 'cause the lines were insane!

This leads me to Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Idaho. Boise is a little town east of Portland that takes less than an hour to travel to by plane, and probably costs no more than a Benjamin. Not only that, it's cool—and by cool I mean, like, 60 degrees all weekend. Last year was warm (more like 75), and in years past, it actually snowed! How fun is that?! You never know what you're going to get weather-wise at Treefort. However, you're guaranteed more than 500 bands and five whole days of great music. (And with none of the annoying "festival style" of Coachella, or the lines of SXSW.) Honestly it's a really good time—but that's just the opinion of a thirtysomething who's sick of seeing flower crowns.
