THE DEADBEAT CLUB group art show at AKA Gallery was way back in July—and I would’ve gotten these pics to you earlier, but I was kinda busy. (See my coverage of the Lents Fair Chicken Beauty Contest for details.) Nevertheless I really wanted to make sure you saw these because (A) there was some really cute folks there, and (B) I needed to mention how relatable photographer Deanna Templeton’s mid-’80s diary is to me (and probably every girl).

While the show featured a bunch of other talented photogs—Devin Briggs, Nolan Hall, Grant Hatfield, Ed Templeton, Clint Woodside—I didn’t pay much attention to anything but Deanna’s dairy entries. They were all just so “coming of age,” angsty, and PERFECT! Case in point:

October 27, 1985: “...he wants to go out. I saw him today but when I left he didn’t say goodbye. I love him so much...”

November 17, 1986: “tonight for the 100th time I looked in the mirror and realized how ugly I am, and how cute I could have been”

I could go on, but let’s get to the pics. (If I took your photo and you’re not here, check online at portlandspretty.com.)
