Opening This Week

* Measure for Measure
The punchy Northwest Classical Theatre's last show was an outdoor staging of Henry VI. It was as rough and tumble as they come, but no Portland theatrical production in 2003 had more heart. There were some pretty good performances as well. I'll be excited to see their version of Measure for Measure, one of Shakespeare's strangest plays, this time performed warm and indoors. Northwest Classical Company at the Firehouse Theater, 1436 SW Montgomery, 274-4771, Sat 7:30 pm, through Jan 18, $15

Closing This Week

* Jump for Joy!
Do Jump!'s new holiday show should be jam-packed with cool aerial stunts and funny bits, if their past shows are any indicator, that is. The Do Jump! crew climbs from the ceiling, Spider-Man style, swings around on beautiful cloth trapeze concoctions, diddles with multimedia projections, and juggles splendidly. The sheer spectacle alone is worth the price of admission, even if everything isn't quite tied into a nice, tidy thematic bundle. The local band Klezmocracy is also involved with this production, which should put a fun little kick into things. Do Jump! at the Echo Theatre, 1515 SE 37th, 231-1232, Fri-Sat 7:30 pm, Sun 3 pm, $15-20

* Okay, Who's in Charge Here?
Looks like Brad Fortier and Nate Halloran are in charge tonight. Personally, I'm more than ready to bow before their unstoppable regime. They're two of Portland's best improvisers. Brody Theater, 1904 NW 27th Ave, 224-0688, Fri-Sat 8 pm, $12

Three Queens
A tossed together improv act with three pretty good performers as the "queens": Deanna Moffit, Joslin Larson, and... BRAD FORTIER!? Ker-BOINNGGG! ComedySportz Arena, 1963 NW Kearney Street, 236-8888, Fri 10 pm, $5
