Is there really a demand for rental bikes in Portland? Or is someone looking at this through rose colored glasses.

Seriously, tourists want bikes, and are served by private rental businesses. Not sure anyone else really needs them.

It would probably be more prudent to look at Nextbike, a European company with nearly 20,000 bikes in 60 markets in 14 countries. It offers a much more cost effective, more flexible technology.

Nextbike will be rolling out USA/Canada's largest smart-bike system in NJ/NYC area this summer (800 bikes). This smart-bike program will rank #2 in world after Nextbike's smart-bike program in Budapest.
