Another serious left-hook crash claims a cyclist. The cure for this is not 'protected bike lanes', which will only force cyclists to hug the curb; it is cyclists claiming the traffic lane on a rapid descent and making themselves more visible to oncoming motorists. Of course, that means nothing if the motorist is incapable of accurately assessing the cyclist's speed.

I have been hit twice- once because the driver didnt make eye contact(the passsenger had, so i stupidly assumed they both saw me). That one put me o. The pavement- miraculously, bruised, but ok. The second one was a car full of kids, who yelled fuck you after they hit me & broke my arm(they fled). My daughter went thru a wi dshield a few years back- another ignorant driver. Thank god she's ok. Fuck this: i want seperate bike trails. Am not competing witha 2000 lb vehicle. Bullshit,& most drivers are ass hat unaware. I'm so sorry for this person & what their family is going thru.
