Thinking about seeing X-Men Origins: Wolverine this weekend? Don't. Do this instead.

Or go see Sugar, which Ezra swears is better than Mr. Baseball (though there is NO WAY it's better than this, and I'm only partly saying that because of my man-crush on Robert Redford). Or there's Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, a film about what happens when Matthew McConaughey tells his agent, "Naw, fuck it, broseph. Let's just take the easy money, know what I'm sayin'?"

Two solid film festivals start up this week too: the PDX Fest at the Clinton Street Theater and a Jim Henson retrospective at the Northwest Film Center. And don't forget to check out the Mercury interview with Gonzo the Great!

Other film events this week include Battle for Terra, The Betrayal, and Is There Anybody There? There's also one of my favorites, Battle Royale, as well as a double feature of Cowboy Bebop and Appleseed, the Oregon Sesquicentennial Film Festival, and Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation. And if you really want to punish yourself, there's the Sing-Along Sound of Music—but goddamn, I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. Not even those responsible for Wolverine.

Movie Times, as always, can be found here.
