While OSU might not stand much of a chance in Saturday’s Civil War, there is some good news coming out Corvallis—if not for football fans, at least for artisan food lovers.

The former president of Sunshine Dairy Foods—Paul Arbuthnot—and his wife, Sandra, have donated $860,000 to the university for an endowed dairy professorship. The first to hold the title is Lisbeth Goddick, a specialist in dairy foods, and, according to OSU, she’ll use the money to develop a program to make artisan cheese on campus—particularly Italian varieties (!). The plan is that she’ll share her knowledge with Oregon dairy farmers.

So, while there’s no news of a Busch Light Endowed Chair of Getting Up Early on Saturday, Eating Hotdogs, Getting Shitfaced, And Watching Your Team Get Their Asses Kicked, Beavers can at least take joy in another notch in the belt of Oregon’s bid for best foodie-state in the nation.
