Upset about yesterday's news that Portland Rescue Mission did not want to accept donations of coats from a queer event?

Never fear, the Queer Coat Drive is here!

Jefferey Darling, the organizer of the Queer Christmas event that hoped to donate food and warm clothing to people in need, asked us to help find a charity that's excited about receiving gay coats. Instead of just getting mad about one group turning down the queer donation, use that energy to get motivated to turn out for Queer Christmas on December 20th at Mississippi Studios with as much food and (warm, clean) clothing as you can carry. Sweaters, scarves, gloves, fuzzy hats, and solid winter coats are all needed. If you can't make it to the event, feel free to drop by donations at our office 605 NE 21st Ave from 10am-5pm during any workday in the next two weeks.

The food and coats will go to Our House, a local nonprofit that provides housing, food, clothes, and other vital services to people living with HIV/AIDS. Needy people get warm, queer people get to help out the larger community, no one has to support bigotry, the Queer Coat Drive is a win-win-win.

Check out the Queer Christmas flier below the cut! Mark your calendar for December 20th.
