Don't forget, Portland fashion designers (both apparel and accessory) have until 5 pm on Monday, March 14 to submit their work for consideration for the Mercury's seventh annual spring fashion show, Open Season. This show has been the vehicle for many of Portland's design talent to be discovered (including the dubious distinction of having had three of its alumni—Leanne Marshall, Janeane Marie, and Gretchen Jones—later plucked by the body snatchers of independent fashion, AKA the producers of Project Runway) by a larger audience, and a range from emerging to more established brands are all welcome to apply. Doing so is no biggie: Just send us a bio of who you are as a designer and what makes your work distinctive, as well as photos of completed garments. Sketches, swatches, samples, and anything else you feel will give a more accurate and complete picture of your design identity are welcome, just don't send in anything that you need to get back! Click over here for more info, and for the rest of you: Help spread the word to those you know whose work deserves exposure and recognition, and mark your calendars for Friday, May 6 at the Bossanova!
